Our Programs

After she retired from running Betty spent time speaking with young people and making change. She travelled around the country timing races, speaking to athletes, and sharing the joy that running had bestowed her.

There is a lot to be learned from her legacy, both on and off of the track.

Presentation Option 1

children K-5

This presentation caters to the needs of younger children. Based on the average age of the group, choose from an activity, a children’s book read-aloud, question and answers with her grandchildren and and time to see olympic artifacts.

Presentation Option 2

Teens/Student Athletes

Increasing awareness and inspiring action are two of the goals for these presentations. Teens and student athletes will walk away knowledge of the tools Betty harnessed to stay the course and achieve great things. In addition, there is time for questions and the opportunity to see Olympic artifacts.

Testimonials

“Thank you for coming in and speaking to our athletes. We thought you did a great job making it relatable to the students and relative to their lives.”

“Thank you for coming to share your Grandmother’s story and words to live by. We coaches have taken those words into our coaching vocabulary.”

“There’s nothing like watching the light spark in the eye of a young girl. Hearing Elizabeth’s story in our classroom clearly planted a seed in a few student’s ears. That “if she can, maybe I can too, moment.”

Presentation Option 3- Adults and Professionals

Formulas for success are not always easy to define or to prove.  While her leadership may not have been broadly recognized in her time, her accomplishments were. Join her grandchildren as they uncover the themes of her legacy and reflect with the group on how to lead with justice at the helm.
